SHEILA AND DEAN DUTTON PRESENTED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
Branson Terry Awards recognize matriarch and patriarch of local performing family
Dean and Sheila Dutton Receive the Lifetime Achievement Award
Branson, MO: Dean and Sheila Dutton were honored by The Branson Terry Awards last evening at their annual gala as the recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Presented by Program Producer, Chisai Childs, The Duttons were recognized for their years of concerts on the road, but also for continuing the tradition of music that was established in their theater by Boxcar Willie. “What a wonderful surprise!” said Sheila Dutton, who, with her husband Dean, has guided the Dutton Family band and business for nearly 30 years. “This certainly wasn’t what we expected to be doing for a living when we first had kids,” said Dean, “but what a journey it’s been. Sheila and I thank the Lord every day for the blessing of a loving family, and for fans who enjoy our work!”
The Duttons receive several awards, including Best Show
The Duttons were also recognized recently when The Branson Show Awards, in conjunction with the Branson Arts Council, announced at their recent annual awards dinner that their panel of judges had selected The Duttons Show as show of the year. Six other highly acclaimed Branson shows were nominated in the field.
“It’s a great honor,” said Timothy Dutton, who himself was named Branson’s Best Instrumentalist at the ceremony. “There’s so much talent here in town, and to be recognized alongside other performers we respect is something we’re truly grateful for.” Dutton’s sister Amy, who got the nod for Branson’s Best Violinist, added “It’s humbling to get the award, but at the same time energizing – we work so hard to give our audiences our all, and this inspires us to want to raise the bar even higher.”
The Duttons are currently putting the final touches on their Christmas Show, which they’ll debut in Branson on November 1st, and carry forward into their Winter season at their Family Theater in Mesa, AZ, in December. Their most recent PBS television special, “CHRISTMAS WITH THE DUTTONS,” will air on PBS stations around the country and in Canada beginning in November.
